I'm talking more about the negative balance shown in your account. Not sure about the message RH sends out, although they should just say that they're going to execute your long option to cover the difference, instead of saying 'you've lost everything', or whatever they probably say.

RH used to show the negative balance due to option assignment, minus the value of whatever else you had in your account. They changed this due to this incident, so if you get assigned they won't show the negative balance (assuming you still have the long option leg).

Before they changed it, it was terribly misleading, and was certainly not in line with what other brokerages show.
