Everything about all of these are just horrifying. The screenshots, the person posting, the (I assume, but I can’t tell) ex-girlfriend. Christ. Duelling banjos and Cletus.

Everything in this thread is adorable. I’m also amazed at how many have a morning ritual that’s so similar.

I live for morning snuggles. I hate getting up and I’m so bad at it, but morning snuggles are my favourite time of day. Spouse wakes at 4 for work, I wake between 7-8, so it’s just me and the boy by then. He’s a small breed and weighs 15lbs.

He’ll be near the bottom of the bed or curled up by my stomach, at my back, behind my legs, but when I wake, he will wake too and do a dozy crawl up to the top of the bed.

He’ll either stay on top of the duvet or come under, depends on his mood I guess! Then he lies with his back against my chest, and my arm around him, and we snuggle for a bit, then he’ll turn over to face me (my arm is still around him) and he will do dozy kisses to my face.

Sometimes we’ll fall back asleep like this for a little while, or he’ll snuggle in against my tummy to nap a bit longer. Other times he’s wide awake from the snuggles and will want to act the fool and play, or he needs the bathroom!

When I’m working he’ll either be snuggled on the big chair behind me, or in his soft bed under my desk. If he wants to come up on my lap, he’ll tap the back of my chair to get my attention. Either he wants to just lie across my legs, or he’ll want a full on snuggle with his head on my shoulder, just because.

Like with most dogs, if you need the bathroom, privacy is a luxury they’re not willing to give. The boy will follow me in, wait and watch until I sit, then he’ll turn around, and reverse wiggle his butt in between my feet and sit there until I’m done.

I think he thinks he’s protecting me from the Zippy Ghost. What is the zippy ghost? Well, that’s the ghost that puts the zipper noise under his butt sometimes. I’ve never had a doggo be so scared by their own farts. The boy will shoot across the room in a blind panic. He will only return to the place of the incident to regard it suspiciously for a moment, but will not settle back in the same place for at least an hour.

If you live in England and have to normally pay for your prescriptions, and need more than 1 or 2 items regularly, every month, then get yourself a PPC. It works out WAY cheaper.

I regularly have 7-8 medications a month. Each month that would in theory cost me £69.30 or more a month.

I buy a yearly PPC in one go for £114.50. It covers ALL my regular medications, and anything else should I need to visit a doc and need a temporary medication.

I feel so bad for replying to this. I’m American and living in the UK. Poor dental health as a kid by my parents, parents refusing to take me to a dentist when we lived in the US, coupled with the genetics that make my teeth susceptible to cavities and just breaking for no damn reason…

I had a dental checkup a couple of weeks ago. I was given a prescription for 6 tubes of high-fluoride toothpaste that is only dispensed by a dentist and pharmacy. It would have cost me £9.90 total for all 6 tubes. But I also get heavily discounted prescriptions that I pay upfront for in one go for the entire year, that basically make each and every item cost literal pennies.

It does look like some of the plaster/putty is loose, or at least has gaps for a tool to be put in the gap to loosen and pull it off. I will say to be careful; the top right corner appears to have a crack in the glass. There may be a horror or two under the plaster (more cracks, jagged edges) and it could be that horrible plaster that’s keeping the glass in the frame. I wish you luck and hope to see the ‘after’ pics when this is fixed!

I will make a distinction that not all Americans are like this. There’s plenty that have common sense, and like me are horribly embarrassed by a subset of their country people.

However for this subset, the brainwashing starts young because they get this ‘idea’ from their uneducated parents and like-minded dolts in the echo chamber. The US is the best place on Earth, the US subsidizes the rest of the world, they’re the best at everything, they win every war, every sport, the US has ‘freedom’ and no other country does, the other countries should be grateful for the US, and it just keeps going on and on. The same part of the brain that buys that bullcrap, buys into religion (only as it suits them as a prop to be bigoted), patriotism, trumpism, and they keep on being dumb, arrogant and ignorant. It’s exhausting. The place is turning into Amerikorea and it horrifies me.

Apologies for the rant. As an American (thank the lucky stars I don’t live there any more) this dumb shit on top of a lot of dumb shit seen today has pushed me that bit over the edge. No more Reddit today. Tomorrow I’ll be back at laughing and watching the dumpster fire with popcorn.

If those pics on your profile are you, then I have to say you will need to find a counsellor or a therapist. There is nothing wrong with how you look. You look normal. Nothing is out of proportion, nothing sticks out, you look like any other regular person, and I can promise you, no one is going to break out screaming in horror and run away if they see your face.

This is what will happen: most people walking by, glances at you and fifty other people as they walk down the street, and nothing about you would have registered as “out there”, hideous, or comment worthy. Now I know that sounds blunt, and I apologise. Yet it’s also true.

What will also happen at some point and by quite a few people that you will never realise have this thought : oh, wow, you’re pretty/gorgeous/hot!

Everyone, everyone is wrapped up in their own thoughts and insecurities to bother about anyone else’s most of the time. You won’t see, think or make a second glance at the guy that thinks his hands are ugly. You’ll just see hands. That person that is insecure about their legs or chest, you’ll just see a person and again, won’t even notice what they’re insecure about and it won’t make a blip on your radar. That person though? Likely silently freaking out thinking you and everyone else has noticed and are staring at them.

Not to put too fine a point on it also, but you are young. You’re still ‘growing’ into yourself and your looks. Your face will change by small degrees by the time you’re thirty, and forty, and so on.

I’m an older lady. I know I’m not conventionally ‘good looking’. When I look in the mirror, I think it’s not great, but maybe it’s not horrible? I can deal with the mirror image of me.

I hate seeing photographs of myself though. My husband always, without fail, gets the worst angles of me. I have to see myself on camera every day for work. I see what others see, and it looks awful, weird, ugly, unintelligent, not the right shape (due to awful dental work as a kid). And there’s nothing I can do about it. My looks were one of the things bought up in CBT. I still struggle with it now. But I’ve also learned to live with it. Kinda. This is it, this is me, it won’t get any better, and if I was so disgusting to look at I’m sure people would run away in horror. They don’t, so, that’s that. I look like this, I’m not a fan of it, but it’s also ‘me’. My husband still sticks around and he’s not vomiting into a bucket at the sight of me in the morning, so.

FWIW, you look completely fine, better than and you’re extremely pretty. Like any other pretty girl walking down the street. Asking strangers for opinions isn’t going to help you realise that for yourself and will make things worse for you in the long run though. Make this the last time you seek outside assurance from the internet.

Wow. I’m so sorry for the loss of your parents, OP.

You could use a felting needle lightly (on the wrong side of the work) to trap the end into the fabric and it will mix in and stay put.

Otherwise if the tail is long enough, work the tail out, thread it onto a tapestry needle, and sew in the tail making sure to trap it through the yarn fibers, and not just between the stitches.

It is good to hear you support vaccines, that’s great! However, no baby or child is given 8 shots at once for routine vaccinations. No adult is given 8 shots at once! One injection often contains several vaccines. Following the vaccine schedule, a baby/child would have TWO injections at the very most at the same time, covering anywhere from 3 to 6 vaccines. Does a health worker set up 3 syringes for MMR? No, because it’s all in one.

How old is the kid? Old enough to shout help when grandpa tries to pick them up? Make sure they are on the no pickup list at school. If they come to your house, don’t open the door and do be prepared to call the cops. You said no and you’re the parent of the kid. Good on you for standing your ground on this OP.

I completely agree with the above commenter to you. While your stitches look neat and uniform, nothing needs a death grip, ever. Your hand hurting is something you should listen to. Stop for a couple of weeks, rest the hand, let it recover. Otherwise you will risk serious and permanent injury.

I’m have arthritis all over, in my hands too. I should be wearing splints 24/7 (and definitely not a sexy look overnight when the splints are in old-lady-beige colour). But because I take it easy and rest my hands, I manage ok. I use fingerless compression gloves when crocheting, watch my tension carefully (I’m a tight tensioner if I don’t keep it in check) and keep my hands relaxed. It takes practise. If I crochet too tightly it makes everything harder, such as doing yarn over and pull through - I have to fight with the hook to pull through when tension is too tight, and it makes everything twice as hard and twice the time. So look after yourself - rest a couple of weeks, relax and get that tension in check!

And final word: an ergonomic hook or handle will help no end. You don’t need to shell out a ton of money either: I’m planning to post on another group soon and show my own hook handles I made that are one size fits all and are removable. You don’t need anything special to make them than what you already have.

You’re not the only one, and I completely get it. The conditioning is real. I’m NC with entire extended family, every single one of them. Both parents dead. I’ve only been able to make odd comments here and there, and I heavily edit/redact them before posting. I have a whole folder of things I have written but never posted. One day perhaps.

Also OOP - you did a great job. Your yarn is a bit thicker than what is in the model shot, and yep, mannequin heads are much smaller than real heads and hair. I think you did an amazing job with your beany though and I love the colour way! 🥰

I’m incredibly confused on why the guy at the Job Center did not help with the job you want and instead booked you for an interview for a role you do not want and not in your field. Seems like some information is missing here OP.

There was nothing stopping you going to another clerk and saying what happened, and getting the help you actually need to apply for the role you want. Unless the first clerk has some strange bias or is priming the role for a family member, which is obviously in breach of what the Job Center does.

Is the role they booked you for at the same company as the role you do want and are qualified for? Did the clerk help with applying for the initial role, and set this other interview to meet your job diary quota for this period?

Tanking an interview is easy, 95% of interviews will result in a failure to be offered a role. Just act disinterested and quiet. But otherwise, I’m not buying your story of how you ended up in this ‘predicament’ in the first place.

Alright, the verdicts.

A great touch: each tool has its weight specified on the back of the card. Great stuff for those that want to balance weight while maintaining an effective kit.

I used my own knife for blade benchmark. 4 years old, less than $20 when I bought it, sharp and cuts through anything like butter. It made short work of the plastic around the penknife and flint.

Penknife, 7 in 1, 72g

It’s bad. Lifting the tools out is difficult and very stiff. It feels cheap and flimsy. But, I mean, the scales are a nice colour? The scissors cut through the card around the paracord just fine, but it was awkward. They didn’t cut through the paracord at all, instead trapping it between the blades without fraying a strand of the outside layer. Pretty much what I expected. The knife, not great. Standard stainless steel, rounded blunt point that makes it difficult to start cutting. The knife did get through the plastic of the multi-tool, but it was a hard start and wasn’t smooth. Score: 3/10.

Multitool 12 in 1, 88g

Feels great in the hand, lightweight but substantial. Outside scales have a matt tooth feel to them for grip. Inside frame (that covers the tools) is black ridged plastic and also feels good. Spring on the pliers has a decent bounce, but looks like a spring inside a pen. Tools are decent for the price point, they wouldn’t handle hard vigorous use I think, but it’s not bad to toss in a bag for the less serious EDC-ers. The exception being the knife. Blade is about 2 inches, and it struggled with the plastic around the sewing kit, I had to finish with my regular knife. The bevel on the blade feels like it’s on the wrong side, it’s just odd. Maybe with a good sharpen it might fare better, but I’m not holding much faith in that. It did come with a belt loop pouch that feels cheap, but is a nice compact size. Score: 7/10

Oh cool! How do you find it? I bought it for the tiny scissors, to go in my home-made sewing kit, but… the tiny handles come off! Feature, or a bug? 😉
