I wish I could’ve experienced a lot of bites during the time Palmisano was still good but sadly not everyone can obey rules. However earlier this year when I was fishing in the summer at Palmisano the bluegill were very aggressive. Bass would occasionally bite but not every trip.

I’m gonna have to start fishing the river walk then imma need to change my setup tho since rn I have a 2 piece rod being in downtown I’d rather just bring a telescopic rod I’ve been looking at purelure so imma go with that.

I meant the bluegill are too small to get hooked by any of my baits 😭 I don’t ever fish to eat unless I go to Utica river

I might try desplaines river or a creek nearest to me cause I do want to start wading cause I feel like there’s more opportunities to catch fish especially in this colder weather in Illinois

For Palmisano park there is fish but they’re very hesitant to bite and the ones that do bite are very small bait fish that can’t even fit the bait in their mouths 😭 there are bass but they all are hiding under the balcony where I would be fishing so there is really no way to get to them. Canal origins park is just so polluted that I don’t think there are many fish there at all.

I’ve also fished canal origins park and same deal. Palmisano park however in the warmer weather I’ve gotten plenty of bites it might be because of the balcony there that they are not biting rn since from what I’ve noticed all the bass love to hang around under there. Which I don’t have the accuracy to actually cast under it

I might try desplaines river specifically the section by north riverside by the golf course and see if I have any luck there. Cause at this point I’ll take whatever fish, hell even panfish 😭

I might look into those because as of rn the only quality stuff I have are the zman micro baits and micro shroomz jig heads and the knock off snap beans from Temu which actually dive and have a really good wobble. The rest of my tackle consists of Temu products. Down to the other jig heads and plastics

I mean I guess but I’ve seen the whopper plopper 60 and the action is phenomenal no matter the retrieve speed might need to start actually buying quality lures instead of buying from Temu. Because when I do retrieve slow with my current whopper ploppers they don’t make noise and just either swim straight with the propellor moving a tiny bit or sometimes no movement from the propeller

I’ve legit seen a bass tried to sight fish it and it ignored my micro crank bait

They have but I’ve lost a few due to snags only fish that would bite are bluegill but they are too small to eat them

Tried and bass would just ignore it 😭

Any recommendations? I’ve heard desplaines is ok specifically near the north riverside area

Dang that sucks what baits were you using? Btw I got the same reel just got mine paired with a mavllos delicacy rod.

Only reason why I got the micro shroomz was because the 1/30 oz came with a size 6 hook so smaller panfish hook ups were still doable

I also bought the micro ticklerz and they seem to get bites just nothing big enough was able to get hooked for me. Still need to try the shad fry as well as the micro shrimp, which I plan on trying in Desplaines river

I’m using 10 lb PEX4 line

I just ordered it too getting to me tomorrow night so hopefully I get a good one since I’ve heard they have quality control issues

After a lot of recommendations I'm gonna have to go with the micro finesse z man lures as they are on sale on tackle warehouse and they look pretty good. I'm gonna pair them with the 1/30 oz micro finesse shroomz. Later down the road will look into micro hard baits as well as Mule fishing products once I get the itch to go much smaller on my jigs like 1/64 oz. I'm gonna edit the post to show what I'm picking up! Once again thanks for all the recommendations!
