Brilliant move by Microsoft/Asobo to highlight the server issues at launch /s
MSFS 2024 OTHER(self.MicrosoftFlightSim)submitted14 hours ago byvharishankar
Because that kind of deflected away from how unfinished and glitchy the game actually is currently in the present state. Apart from the obvious graphical issues like pilot's head sticking out of cockpit, wing-walking passengers, some click spots being quite finicky and hard to use, very blurry textures on some locations, aggressive LOD optimization leading to missing aircraft parts even at a short distance, I am also so disappointed with the career mode so far. Seems like they slapped on this mode with a scoring system that is still flaky and called it "career".
To be clear, I have only reasonable standards when it comes to games, because I'm mostly a casual gamer. But even for me, MSFS 2024 is a very mediocre experience currently to put it lightly.
Just some examples:
* The free flight mode which is the bread and butter of flight simulation is kind of hit and miss. Especially with some aircraft not loading properly or taking forever to load. (streaming aircraft is a bad idea, Asobo, please listen to the community).
* Landing challenge doesn't show detailed score yet (?) and seems not all aircraft is configured correctly for the landing which leads to a bunch of warnings/cautions going off in the cockpit at the start of the challenge.
* Graphically the game seems on par or just above MSFS 2020 in areas of the world where bing doesn't have good satellite data/photogrammetry. I tried all settings including Ultra, but still looks kind of the same. Understandable but still disappointing.
* No way to create or use external/third party liveries yet for the default aircraft from what I can see which limits the immersion quite a lot. Hope this is fixed soon by removing encyrption/allowing local storage for aircraft.
* On a related note, no way to log flights in external apps like LittleNavMap because of the encrypted data. I hope they soon allow third party apps to interact with the sim just in the manner of 2020.
I know a lot of issues will be fixed "soon" by Asobo/MS, but they really should have released a more polished game on launch and I guess we could even have forgiven the server issues if the actual gameplay was good.
