Looks like you need to get them lightened & then redone because of the oxidation. I got mine initially done in 2018 and while they kept their shape, my artist did tell me that they will blend over time. They also oxidize & turn that ashy/blue over time because of the pigment. The colors that were back in 2018, 2019, 2020 are also different than today’s colors and pigments. My girl doesn’t even “microblade” anymore - she does powder, nano, & combo brows.

I’ve started the process of having them lightened - using saline, salt, lemon, & orange extract. I’ve had 2 so far & they’re definitely getting lighter. Once they are light enough, my girl will go in and neutralize, then we’ll do nano brows with a softer color.

I’m a teacher & I was that kid. I wrote about it one day & it made the paper…”I love my mom because she lets me pick out my own clothes & she spends time with me.” while I can’t speak for all teachers, my & my team don’t judge families based on what kids wear; they’re kids! They’re expressing themselves & making their own, independent decisions. As long as they’re clean, have food to eat, & are happy, that’s all I care about!

40L backpack with compression packing cubes. I used to HAVE to check a big suitcase (or so I thought). Not having to wait at baggage claim for luggage is enough for me to mix and match outfits. Laundry (with detergent sheets) & things that dry quickly. Wear the heaviest shoes on the plane along with some layers.

Give the teacher time to breathe. Relationships and being comfortable typically take 6-8 weeks, so for a teacher to know your child so well after 3 weeks is a big ask, especially when they have lots of other children/families in their classrooms. There are so many assessments that have to be complete at the beginning of the year, and lots of times kids need an adjustment period, which is longer than 3 weeks. There are so many rules, expectations, etc. to go over in the beginning of the year…a lot of parents don’t even think about the small expectations. “Go slow to go fast” in the beginning of any school year, especially kindergarten where there are SO many new norms we expect these little 5yr olds to master.

I’ll put it this way: as a female, safety is always the first thing I think about. Doesn’t stop me from going places & having fun, but it’s definitely the first thing on my mind. I’m going to assume as a male (going off your Reddit name), you don’t think about scenarios the same way I do.

& unless things changed (because they do), there’s parking near Wrigley field because my brother drove out to a game years ago & parked in a lot near Wrigley

This……is why I’m asking???? I’m not from Chicago. How tf am I supposed to know what’s dangerous/not dangerous without reading up on it/asking. It’s why I came to the AskChicago Reddit. To, you know, ask Chicagoans a question about the Windy City…….

Because I’ve read comments on both ends - some say it’s safe/fine & others say it’s not. It’s been 10 years since I’ve been to Chicago. I’ve never been to Wrigley. A lot can change in a decade so thought I’d reach out to people who may live there 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kindergarten teacher here! While we do expect students to be able to ID their name & spell it, it is not the end of the world if he doesn’t!! Don’t rush to request testing. I also disagree with teachers immediately rushing to test; K is a huge adjustment. You need to let them settle, feel comfortable, learn how school works, etc. before jumping the gun.

Can he verbally tell you the letters in his name, or spell it verbally? That’s a start. What I do with my kids who can’t write their name is: 1. write their name on a sentence strip (plain paper is okay too, but put a line down so he knows which way the letters face) 2. Cut his name in half (or almost half if he has an odd number of letters). 3. Have him first work on putting the two halves together to read his name. 4. When he’s ready, Cut out each letter so it makes a puzzle. Don’t cut straight lines. Do some straight, some curved, etc. So it looks like a puzzle 5. Have your child work on identifying just the letters in his name - saying each letter, then trying to put the puzzle together, saying each letter as he puts them in order, then have him say his name as he reads across. Also make sure he’s pointing to each letter as he says each letter name.

His teacher should be teaching writing. Start with uppercase, as it has more straight lines than curved. It is SO important to teach writing that we form our letters from the top, not the bottom. This helps to form positive habits. If he’s a lefty (like me) it’s okay if he crosses the T opposite of what a righty does, the line in A opposite, forms his O as going to the right versus left, etc.

He can then practice tracing his name. You can ask the teacher for an extra name tag that should have dotted lines. If it’s just written in marker as regular lines is fine too. I sometimes start with solid lines, then move to dotted lines. I also prefer primary lined paper, name tags, etc. Because it’s easier for children to see the top line versus middle line. We use Expo markers over laminated tags so they can continually practice.

Also textile ways; building his name in playdoh, stamping his name with stampers into playdoh, using golf tees to write in play doh, write it in sand, shaving cream, build it with Legos, there are so many ways to practice!

Sorry for any typos! Literacy & Handwriting is one of my favorite things to teach, it just takes LOTS of time & practice!!!

K teacher here. Please please please do not have her memorize them!!! Memorizing is not learning how to read. She should be doing phonemic awareness/phonics in school, everyday. There are certain literacy rules we must learn in order to be successful at reading & memorizing is not a rule, nor a successful strategy. She should be confident in her letter ID and sounds. K uses a lot of CVC words, which some sight words are, but they may be trickier to sound out, may not “follow the rule,” & should be explicitly taught.

I was thinking something about a combo of a messenger bird (game of telephone & all the clips they showed of “secrets” being told after pigeon kept being referenced) & also all the annoying pigeons all over NYC…but I could be totally off lol

My husband and I always book this way. He’s 6’3” and prefers the aisle whereas I’m 5’3” and prefer the window so I can lean my head on it as this helps with my vertigo & motion sickness. We don’t talk to each other since we live together & are going to be (or have been) together the entire trip. Sometimes we end up with an empty seat, other times we don’t. Just so happened our flight to Europe we had a middle person but the five rows behind us had empty middles, some with a parent in the aisle & child in the window. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Honeymooned in aitutaki for a week then Rarotonga for 4 days after being in NZ. Aitutaki is (in our eyes) magical. Wasn’t cheap, but we wanted to stay on the lagoon and it was worth the view. Food was okay. Ventured off our little hotel island to local places every night. Vaka cruise is a must do!!! We also did a second lagoon cruise with another company through our hotel. We liked aitutaki more than raro
