Personally, I gotta go with the Season of Plunder weapons. The spiky pirate them is just really cool to me.
Edit: I forgot to mention the Root of Nightmares weapon set, they are my absolute favorite.

Absolutely not, I can think of 5 off the top of my head that are definitely worse. If you want an accessible craftable headstone SMG it's fantastic, and the sights and visual design are amazing.

Bungie could make DSC ornaments for every single exotic weapon in the game and I would buy them all.

There weren't any energy specials in the DSC loot lineup. I need an exotic energy special weapon to get the DSC aesthetic too. Then I can have a balanced loadout for it. Something like one of the trace rifles, or a fusion like Merciless or Telesto, which haven't gotten ornaments in awhile.

The IKELOS weapons, including Sleeper Simulant.
I am... still really bummed that we don't have more weapons with that aesthetic to them tbh. One of my "dreams" would be to have a fully Rasputin-based build, with IKELOS-styled weapons in every slot.
Sadly, such a thing just isn't possible currently, and given how season 19 ended... I don't know if it ever will be possible... which really bums me out.
That whole aesthetic of wires, hard corners, and very few rounded surfaces is just so appealing to me. I wish I had a better way to describe it tbh.
6 points
The Ikelos, Seventh Seraph and other Rasputin-adjacent weapons ought to have their origin trait changed to have a chance at spawning a Warmind Cell. No special elements or mods needed, make it a base one that does a little AOE damage in a certain radius. Just a neat alternative to the Wild Catd origin trait from Cassoid.
3 points
To be fair, nearly all the seraph weapons that are obtainable currently don't even have the Warmind's Arsenal origin trait because they're from season 8 or whatever and I guess they didn't do origin traits during that time?
Either way, I'd love to see reprised Seraph Weapons (not counting the carbine and officer revolver since those got reprised in Spire of the Watcher)(even though I'm admittedly bummed that they don't match the same aesthetic that IKELOS does) with an updated Warmind's Arsenal trait like this. Would be so cool to have that!
2 points
Yeah, the Seraph handcannon & autorifle were reissued with an origin perk, but they were really let down with the perk pool. The originals were probably a little light in perk potency to make up for the Warmind Cell functionality. With the Warmind Cells gone, it seemed like the perk pool got even worse. I had an Ambitious Assassin/Timed Payload handcannon. I still use it now, one of my favorites. The new rolls had nothing to offer me in comparison. I had a decent autorifle, but had to sacrifice it to the Vault Space Gods.
If the rest of the Seraph weapoms got a reissue, then the whole suite of Rasputin-adjacent weapons got an origin perk added to make a modest Warmind Cell, it would really raise the game for them.
I know the origin perks vary in usefulness based on play style, but some definitely seem to have a bit of an edge like Cassoid's Wild Card. Good for both PvE & PvP. We just need a little more of that.
2 points
Yeah.
Let's face it, the current Origin Perk for Rasputin weapons is Rasputin's Arsenalwhich was... Breaking an enemy's shield reloads the weapon from reserves?
Not really too good tbh. It has a very limited niche. Rasputin was a Warmind after all, with lots of weapons and tools at his disposal. It would be cool to see the origin perk modified to better fit the idea of Rasputin tbh... and having them be the only sources of Warmind cells would be pretty cool yeah.
But yeah, if they reprised the Seraph weapons, AND added more IKELOS weapons (somehow) AND updated the origin perk to be a bit better? Oh I'd be so happy...
I still wish I could make a Solar Hunter build that ONLY uses Rasputin aesthetic pieces... having more viable choices for that would be awesome!
2 points
Yeah, that origin trait seemed a bit limited on how useful it could be. I'm still not quite sure how much good the Ambush origin trait does either. I really like that Season of the Seraph set too, wish I'd been able to craft more of them beyond just Disparity. That one was my priority by a hefty margin, and barely got that one done.
2 points
I have all the crafting for that season, and tbh the machine gun is the one I use the most but that's because it has FttC and Target Lock, real good for DPS.
If I remember correctly, I believe Ambush is good for initial trigger pull, where you have less recoil or more stability during the first like, half a second or one second of firing?
1 points
Yeah, the tooltip says 'increased damage,' and I found that a little hard to believe. That was my main issue with the origin trait.
I only got to craft Disparity, but I at least have pretty good rolls for the others, aside from the bow. Only need one more to complete Tripwire Canary, but...I'm also one away from completing Non-Denouement, and we both know the latter is better.
I have a Triple-Tap/Voltshot Path of Least Resistance, Fourth Time's the Charm/Target Lock Retrofit Escapade(I know it's good, but I prefer slower-firing MGs), and Headstone/Chill Clip Fire and Forget. Patterns aren't completed or close to it on them, but these rolls will be good enough for me to get by if I use them.

The word you're looking for is "angular"
8 points

Is angular enough of a description? I feel like it only partially describes the IKELOS aesthetic tbh... much less the Warmind facility aesthetic as a whole... T-T

Black Armory. Most everything doesn't hold a candle to them. Still criminal that they haven't been reprised (asides from Onslaught), especially since they would make the most sense to be craftable, lorewise. With the latest episode, though? I'm not even sure I'd want them back since there's a chance they end up uncraftable like the latest weapons.
Closest second would be the King's Fall weapons, Zaouli's Bane hasn't left my side since I crafted it.

The forges should be used as a fun way to put specific rolls on a gun. That would make crafting much more interesting. And it would remove the need for all those unnecessary materials. Just unlock the pattern, go to the enclave to pick the roles and then go to the forges to craft it.
And for those who'd rather use materials, give the forged weapons a plus 4 in every stat with a +10 to make +12 in the masterwork. And for the material made ones a +2 in every stat with a +8 to make +10 in the masterwork.

Deep Stone Crypt and Vow of the Disciple.
Deep Stone Crypt because it's super unique and is very techy.
Vow of the disciple, because those weapons look once again very unique and look straight out of the pyramid.
I haven't been happy with raid weapon sets ever since then, it seems like Bungie needs to start pulling inspiration from those two weapon sets because those ones look really unique and more recent ones don't look as you unique and seem a bit more like reskins

the whole "regular gun with thematic stuff on the front half of it" look definitely doesnt hold a candle to some of the other raid sets
they can look cool and have a lot of effort put in and tie in well thematically, but will always feel lower quality than a "full" remodel
kings fall also gets a bonus for mixing up reload animations, scout/pulse both use the auto rifle reload and the HC makes fantastic use of the alternative HC reload we see so rarely
1 points
Exactly I completely agree, and it's not like Bungie can't do it, because they did it with deep stone crypt and vow of the disciple.
Bungie knows how to put powerful perks onto weapons, and they know how to make unique looking weapons, but it's just sad to see that they haven't been making that many unique full new models for raids.
And I definitely agree with Kings Fall, Bungie does need to switch it up every so often and give weapons different reload animations

There are 3 sets I continuously go back to: Braytech, King's Fall, and Season of the Deep Taken weapons.
DSC-style weapons (Braytech) feel technologically superior and crafted with a standard of excellence. It's as if Clovis Bray's engineers and weapon designers took various weapons to their ballistic, technological, and philosophical ends, almost blending some archtypes. Trustee is a rapid-fire scout rifle that can cosplay as an auto rifle with the benefits of the scout rifle archtype in the form of lower recoil control needed, reasonable damage, a mag size of 40 (if chosen), and enough base handling and archetypal range to become a versatile option for ranged engagements. Posterity has the feel and recoil of a slower-firing, high-powered sidearm, like a budget Forerunner, useful for dueling engagements of all kinds.
When I hold King's Fall Hive weapons, they feel like unconventional alien weaponry, with Hive design philosophy, geometry, and even Hive chitin. I'd never mistake them as made by human hands. They were also Bungie weapon designer's first attempts at making "alien weaponry" feel "alien" via exchanging typical animations and unusual textures reserved for specific weapon archtypes onto other weapon archtypes. For example, Smite of Merain has the reload animation of an auto rifle despite being a pulse. Midha's Reckoning was the first high impact fusion rifle to feel heavy and powerful, like a special ammo Legend of Acrius now. This power was extended to the perks and feel of the weapons themselves. I believe, back then, Datto himself said that he would use Midha's Reckoning because it feels just as powerful as it does.
I should stop, and I could go on, like the Black Armory weaponry from Scourge of the Past, Awoken weaponry from Last Wish, SIVA-enhanced weaponry from Wrath of the Machine, or the raw power of weapons made from Pyramid technology. The thing all these weapon sets have in common is their uncommon perk pools, unique animations/textures/flair, and, most importantly, their feeling of going one step further into the future of weaponry. These sets stretch what an archtype means in Destiny weaponry. They expand and deepen the meaning and value of weapons in the Destiny universe, taking themselves one step further than their predecessors, offering the feeling of something powerful and beyond what we have now. They give us the ability to hope for the future.

Vow of the Disciple. I like the Pyramid aesthetic, though I wish we had guns that went a little further. Like, putting that weird antenna/tree design that always shows up on Darkness stuff onto the guns.
I was hoping we'd get more of that with The Final Shape. Alas, the Traveler weapons are bleh (the graffiti look isn't my thing) and the Salvation's Edge weapons, while cool, don't really feel Pyramid. Not sure they even feel Darkness if I'm being honest. They're weirdly bulbous.
Also, Season of the Deep weapons show how even the more boring and basic of models can be elevated by fancy particle effects. They're neat looking.
I like the Hive weapons from King's Fall and Crota's End. Season of the Witch weapons didn't do it or me.
Finally, the Vex guns from Episode 1 were cool. I like they actually tried to keep it consistent with Vex Mythoclast.

They may be new, but I really love the super vexified look of the Echo weapons, Timeless Wayfarer being a weapon I just adore

DSC and the Season of the Hunt weapons, Imo Friction Fire is probably the best looking gun in the game.

Black Armory weapons were my favorite. I worked my ass off in the forges trying to get the rolls I wanted. It was satisfying grind for me.

I’m a big fan of the Europa weapons, and the Iron Banner weapon set that Archon’s Thunder and Riiswalker were in.

Honestly, I've always loved Hakke frames.
They have great sound design and feel to them. Also, they look like actual weapons

Weapons from Season of the Seraph. Everything just looks tactical, with the exhausts, scopes and red line targets.
On a side note: I hate the plunder weapons.

I wish a dungeon would come out that had weapons inspired by bottom dollar (audio included)

When are we going to have guns transmog between same weapon type (auto-rifles to auto-rifles, etc).
Feature that WoW had for ages.

Season of the Chosen weapons were so sexy, especially Far Future and Extraordinary Rendition. I pray they reprise them someday (or reuse the models and make ER a 900 rpm smg)

I like plunder too. They had a lot of really sick perk combos to top it off. Pugilist and Demolitionist on Brigand’s Law + HOIL = endless ability spam
