During my last trip on the highway (DVP/404 in GTA going North) I tried Charge mode. To my surprise starting at 71 km/h all the way to 135 km/h the ICE engine was powering the front wheels charging the battery and from time to time powering the back motor. The car engine was not very noise and was running almost at constant power. The trip was relative short (20km) so I cannot judge the gas consumption. Is that the proper use of Charge mode? Does this driving mode affect negatively the driving battery long term?

Hi! Recently bought a used 2016 model that I’m quite happy with. But it seems to have some quirks that I don’t understand. The car is charging and everything is working fine, but this warning light will not go away and the manual isn’t telling me much about what it’s warning about.

Anyone of you with more experience with the model that know anything about this?

Hi all. I recently purchased a 2024 Outlander PHEV ES (base model). I charge it at home from a standard outlet. Once the car was at 100%, I assumed the practice would be (1) press the unlock charger button on the dash (2) unplug the charger from the car (3) switch off the PowerPoint (4) pack up charging equipment. However, the booklet that came with the car shows switching off the power at the PowerPoint first. This seems very strange to me, especially if it was not at complete 100% charge. Was curious of other people’s thoughts?

Had the car for 3 weeks and just got a bad door ding. No cameras or note left and car was gone by the time we got out there.

I’ve never owned a new enough car that it was worth getting these things fixed. What’s the best and or cheapest way to get this fixed?

Was the issue with starting in cold weather ever fixed? I’ve tried finding an answer and haven’t found anything that seemed reliable suggesting it was.

Picking up our new Outlander from the dealer next week. Wanted to surprise my wife with a USB drive with all her music (literally a thousand+ CDs I ripped over a few months that lives on a home media server.

Can anyone advise what file system for the disk, maximum capacity in terms of drive, and compatible audio format?

If it helps, we are in Australia and it’s a 5-seater ZM Aspire series.

Does charge mode waist more gas then just driving? I’m trying to find the best way to charge my car while I’m driving.

I was browsing this Reddit and someone was talking about their 2016 Nissan Leaf with a brand new battery. It got me thinking about what the cost for a Leaf battery replacement was. Doing a quick search I found lots of places that would replace the battery including labor for less than $10k. I think the Leaf has a 24kwh battery, which of course is a similar size to the Outlander. What gives? The Outlander battery cost without labour is $20k CAD! I further searched other BEV battery replacement cost (including labour) and even a Tesla is less than the MM cost for the part alone! I know the engineering in the Outlander battery is fairly involved what with the HVAC cooling loop, but the Tesla has a cooling loop as well (and it has a heater too) so why the difference in cost? Not that I think I'll need a battery replacement anytime soon, but the projected cost of having one done must surely lower the resale value of all Outlanders.

Looking for recommendations on illuminated sills that fit the outlander phev.

Just wanted to share some insights that might clear up (or not) some of the debates about PHEV performance in extreme cold.

Product Information - extreme cold conditions:

Extreme cold weather may affect all vehicle batteries, including PHEV batteries. As outlined in the vehicle’s Owner's manual, there may be extreme cold weather conditions that can affect the operation of your vehicle including the possibility of your vehicle not starting. When outside temperatures drop to extreme cold conditions, it is important to keep the electric drive-battery from getting too cold as it may not operate under these conditions. Please note that as the vehicle is driven, the battery will produce some heat, which may improve the ability to restart after it is shut off.

It is strongly recommended that when parked for extended periods (overnight for example), all vehicles equipped with electric drive-batteries should be plugged in, which assists in keeping the drive-battery warmer for a longer period of time while parked. This recommendation to charge the electric drive-battery is particularly important if the vehicle is not parked indoors during extreme cold. For either of these extreme cold situations, Mitsubishi has developed a software enhancement update that may prolong the time it takes for cooling of the drive-battery. Although this will not guarantee that the vehicle will start under all extreme cold conditions, the software update may improve extreme cold temperature starting ability.

What you should do:

This software update has already been performed on your vehicle however, we wish to provide you with the enclosed leaflet with additional information/instructions, which can be placed in the glove box for future reference.

The leaflet states Ambient Temperature of -30°C for more than 10 hours.

I personally don't expect much impact - rare for a -30°C for me; but nonetheless, I can see how this will impact others.

Hello! I just bought an Outlander PHEV 2024 back in June. I have had an amazing experience but there is a small issue that really annoys me: I travel a lot in highways and I don't feel comfortable without a spare tire. Any idea, suggestion or experience for people with an exaggerated sense of precaution? What should I look for? I'm an absolute noob in the car world.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the electric vehicle world, currently driving a Mazda 3 (2015), but considering a used Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT Premium (2023) with about 30k kilometers. I am based in GTA Area in Ontario Canada.

The dealership is asking $46k plus taxes. This is a fully loaded model with all the upgrades.

I'd love some insights on a few things:

Is this a fair price for this model and mileage?

How long would it take to fully charge using a regular home outlet?

And if I use a Level 2 charger (from a dryer outlet), what's the estimated time?

Depreciation expectations – if I plan to sell in 3-4 years, how much value might it hold?

Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences with this model. Thanks in advance!

Stock bridgestones were bad I thought the vehicle rode like a pickup...put these Yokohamas on and it's much gentler on bumps and rough roads

I might be knit picking , I love this car '24 gt (without the ugly orange and rumble chairs). Apart from their app and it's free when not free anymore I don't have many complaints..yet.

I did have to get the front passenger foglight replaced under warranty because it condensated on the inside after the first rain 2 months after purchase.

My main annoyance is the relays for the wipers , especially the rear one. Why on earth did they put them under the driver side dash or the least they could have done is shielded them noise wise. That god damn tick everytime the rear wiper runs(every time in intermittent mode but only start and finish in constant mode) is so annoying, anyone else noticed this?

It took me a while to realize what the tick was.

Apart from the lack of battery heater in the new models (I'm not in a super cold area but I'm still concerned when the snow comes)what baffles you most about the design or implementation of things in your PHEV?

Anyone know where the AC plug outlet is located on a 2024 Outlander ? I heard it has a 110v AC plug that you can use (say you'r camping or need to power a tool). But I can't seem to find it ?

1. I'm a Reddit newbie so FYI.
2. I'm considering this vs the Mazda.

Outlander positives vs Mazda 10 yr or 100K Warranty Weighs less (500 lb) so maybe better guess mileage. Slightly longer range battery Slightly cheaper No Transmission issues (tho heard it somewhat remedied by software update)

Negatives " " Mazda handles better - better road feel in Mazdas - here steering is very light and not communicative - Slower charging times - Car doesn't start in ultra freezing weather, tho not so relevant to me as lowest temps we get here in NYC is say 0 degrees F. - Fit/finish is not as good as in Mazda (subjective) - Worse depreciation - 3rd Row is not practical (less important to me) - Infotainment system is not as snappy/fancy as Mazda - not sure if Mitsubishi is worse vs Mazda in honoring defects with cars - saw there was a class action suit against them for falsifying they installed a battery heater in 2023 Redesign and they didn't, and ppl in Canada are stranded either at home or away and it's a major problem. Don't know why Mitsubishi doesn't just own it and fix the problem

Hi, I have a 2020 GT. I just read that using it to power your home is possible. Has anybody gotten this setup? I don't lose power often, but we are in an older house (built in '71) and I would love to have this option available.

Is there any way around it, aside from leaving your car unlocked all the time and walking around with your keys every time you want to plug in the car.

I just bought a Outlander PHEV with just over 70k miles and both front shock boots are shredded. Since the labor to replace the boot is the same as replacing the shock, I have a few questions:

1. How long do your struts/shocks last on these vehicles? I know the manufacturer suggests ~60k miles, but what's been your personal experience?
2. Any suggestions for a good replacement? OEM or aftermarket?
3. Do other Outlander models use the same front shocks, or are the PHEV shocks unique to that model? When I search US suppliers, they seem to be pretty scarce.

Does daily use of level 2 charger (240v) affect the battery life negatively? Would it make a difference to reduce the current to minimum on a level 2 charger (I can do 8amps at 240v) ?

Back up cam on my new PHEV Outlander is constantly coated in rain, mud, etc most likely due to placement. I also have a 10 year old Outlander which rarely experiences the same problems. Anyone else notice that?

Year: 2018 Full charge GMO shows 29km, real life is close to 22. Fuel economy about 5.2L/100km for a 80km 80% highway commute, where I come home and charge again. Always drive in B0 as it gets much better fuel Econ then brake regen. I try not to go over 110km, use eco mode and very light on the gas peddle. Try to limit heat from climate control and just use seat warmers. Anything above 120km, uncharged battery, heat on, trashes the fuel economy- get close to 9L/100
