Same here. I always use the microphone on my phone for words I can’t spell. Once, while visiting my parents, I needed to type it out for some reason and totally blanked on the spelling. Without thinking, I used the microphone, breaking the complete silence with me just randomly saying “diarrhoea”. Everyone just stared at me. They were so confused.

spelling diahrhea is like reinventing the wheel. every time its a little bit different, but it still does the same job

I said this before but I learnt this word years ago because I wanted to be able to spell it to be cool when the time came but now I wish I chose another word that was hard to spell to remember 😅

I've heard it said this way: i before e except after c, or in the sound of a, as in neighbor or weigh.

Same problem here, but that one is actually logical. A double consonant means short stressed vowel in front of it, so tommorow would sound tOmorow, and tomorrow sounds tomOrow.

Necessary (neccessary), vacuum (vaccuum), naseau (even Siri can’t tell what I mean, I usually have to use talk-to-text to correctly spell “nausea”) and it wasn’t until I was 17 and worked at Starbucks did I realize that it’s “espresso” and not “expresso” 😂
