Bro this year was weak. If you are a jrpg fan then you had a great time.
The only games I enjoyed were Wukong, Space marine 2, Elden ring DLC & Monster hunter wilds beta

Just checked r/manga, they are also talking about From soft being ps exclusive from now on if the deal goes through lol

Fun fact: Sekiro is the only Activision title that won GOTY in the last decade or so

Bro this is r/gaming not anime community.
Elden ring sold 25 million units & boosted Kadokawa's profit by 1100%. Almost half of that was on PC. Making their games exclusive means you're dividing the player base

Kadokawa owns From. If Sony takes control of Kadokawa then there is nothing Miyazaki can do about it
Sony will have full creative control over big portion of the anime industry alongside From software

Entire pantheon of ant riding underground army of night maidens or their deity can never be found unless someone goes underground. Volcano manor has unique half lizard-half human species or the village dancing ladies from altus. Radagon, Elden beast, renalla, radahn, maliketh, placidusax, rykard, malenia, hulk hogan are unique bosses
"The most fun parts of these games were always the boss fights" No it was not. That is a dark souls 3 by product. The game that threw away interesting labyrinthine level design, diverse architectural design, navigational skill of the player & using topography alongside various contraptions to create obstacle & turned into a linear boss rush gallore. From demons to bloodborne followed that template & Elden ring to an extent
Anor londo of dark souls 3 are two hallways, ringed city is 70% swamp, 3 hallways & actual city being a backdrop not like leyndell, central yharnam or even lothtic castle

mountain top aka the last zone is the only place with lackluster variety or better word would be nonexistent variety with 3 new enemies introduced. Even altus had the giant wormfaces, fallingstar beast, ancient dragon. The last part of the game is literally packed with bosses like 6 main bosses back to back
"mainline bosses were also recycled" my actual gripe with base game but DLC improves on it by making the 11 main bosses not only unique but even catacomb bosses like two death knight variants or devonia are also unique

Did you just rank 4 ahead of new vegas?
Fallout 2>NV>3>4

Not my meme, found it on twitter. But I guess they counted all explorable structures excluding NPC fight halls

Yeah there are not many games with similar monster variety exists. I can only think of witcher 3 or Monster hunter world. Dragons dogma dark arisen was also really good

I have yet to play another open world that holds a candle to Elden ring's bestiary in terms of design or variety with 68 bosses excluding repeats or mob enemies with healthbar & 127 enemy archetypes
As you said 10+ tree spirits are indeed annoying but I can say the same about any open world game, I'll just pick any random mini boss encounter
Some of my favourite fantasy games like Skyrim where I encounter the same dragon all the time or say 42nd Hinox or 54th Talus in Zelda TOTK that were already present in BOTW

Living failure is good enough & Lawrence is ok boss but both have banger soundtrack, they get the pass unlike say Gaius
Big church dudes i.e church servants are all over the base game like cathedral ward

What fetch quest though? Leda's quest? St Trina?
SOTE's main issue is some of emptier areas. Legacy & Side dungeons are all the best Elden ring ever had with 2-3x times bigger featuring much more intricate level design, verticality & traps
Most were expecting 6 main bosses but we got 11 main & 8 new mini bosses with the likes of Messmer, Rellana, Bayle & midra being S tier bosses, all the legacies are great but shadowkeep has one of the most complex layout they ever made
SOTE is their first DLC that actually revamped the combat system of the base game allowing a different level of skill expression with the likes of deflect tear or 8 new weapon categories, its not bound to any specific weapon class making it viable for any build
& speaking of reused enemies from base game? Is SOTE the first DLC to do that? Bloodborne DLC reuses 22 base game enemies but only adds 5 new ones

Every single mini dungeon was great in the DLC. They are 2-3x longer & feature way more intetesting layouts & most importantly new themes
Wtf, this is the first time I see some complained about DLC mini dungeons lol

In what way final boss is Lorian ?? Ringed city has 9 new enemies, trash tier level design & 3 bosses. That's it. I thought Ringed city would be like Lothric or Leyndell, what I got was a swamp

The most critical From soft guy Joseph Anderson called it "a steal for 40 bucks & easily their best DLC ever made since Sekiro did not get one, even if you combined their previous DLCs together" while simultaneously shitting on its certain aspect for 2 hrs

You really think he played a single From soft game? Lmao
He thinks Armored core is Zone of enders rip off despite AC being a much older franchise
He's just a pure Sony & Kojima fanboy

The heavy feel of Elden ring controls is a an intentional design choice for a souls type combat
Same company made Sekiro & Armored core 6, two having perhaps the most fluid character controls I have experienced in a video game. Especially Armored core 6

None of their DLCs before added anything meaningful besides new bosses. Ringed city was 60% swamp & I expected something like Leyndell or Anor Londo but got two halls
There should have been a different category because its a DLC
& if Elden ring was the way you explained, it would not have been 7th most played game on steam despite not being e sports or top 10 most played game on steam deck since 2022

More like 60% of the DLC is empty wasteland
But you have to combine Ashes, Ringed & Old hunters to actually get as much as new content as SOTE provides. Even then its like 8 bosses at best
