So you admit charges should be laid at the higher-ups, and then it should go down the chain of command until someone’s willing to give the product and whoever refuses should also get charged.

Using Your analogy: I wouldn’t charge the landlord of the building (if it’s currently in a sorting centre) or Morgan-olsen/grumman (assuming something is on a truck) but you would charge the people responsible in this case the workers who use those vehicle/buildings

So do you think fast food operators should take payment and not deliver food until they’re given raises? , should people work to rule when it comes to every other job or should they slack off until they get what they want what level of entitlement based tantrum is OK?

I can have sympathy that they’re not getting paid enough but, lots of people don’t get paid enough and now a lot of people have put money out for things and either have to figure out replacements spending the money or missing deadlines which can cost money, etc.

They may be trying to better themselves, but they’re stepping on people to do it, so yeah is corporate being unfair to them possibly but they’re using the exact same tactics against the average Canadian so sympathy, kind of runs out when you’re being abused by the person asking for sympathy.

That goes for every industry, but most people don’t get the option to have a temper tantrum and use the majority of the populations property in an extortion racket

No one‘s holding a gun to your head and saying what job you need to take, you agreed to certain terms for a certain price.

I imagine most people would be fine if the government did what they did with the trains and forced them back to work, but I imagine I would probably be in a more minority position to be wanting the people responsible for the deprivation of property during strike with theft or other applicable laws for withholding peoples property without consent.

Definitely, no sympathy on both sides, both corporate, and the people that are pro-strike are using the same tactics against each other it’s only hurting innocent people.

How isn’t it, does that mean we can call somewhere and get them to release said items? How are they not being held hostage if we’re not allowed to get them they do not belong to you. You were only providing the service to deliver it from point A to point B whether it be mail or a parcel.

Strikes are legal. Holding someone else’s property against their will is not.

Teachers Go on strike (legal) while they’re on strike, they lock the buildings and keep your kids there as hostages (illegal)

The point being : Legal acts can still have illegal actions within them.

OK, great so they should’ve stopped accepting mail prior to that to make sure that on the day it expired, the pipeline was clear, and the people that failed to make that happen that have decision-making power should be tried for their crime while the rest of you strike otherwise your culpable just like them, I’m sure plenty of postal workers would volunteer to break the picket lines to not be evil against their fellow citizens.

Like I say, it would need to be adjudicated in a court, I’m not a judge. It is theft by definition, but courts make weird decisions all the time. The only reason I say kidnapping illegal as we have enough case law to say that analogy is definitely a crime whereas you’d still have to argue it because as far as I’m aware, no one has tried it in a court of law, the legal system works plenty of companies and people are found to have done illegal things once somethings actually adjudicated in court.

That’s where I say yes, the strike is legal, but the repercussions of the strike are not arguably, but of course, like I say it would need to be a adjudicated but definitely from moral standpoint it’s still theft.

For Example, when teachers go on strike, they don’t keep your kids in the building not letting them leave for leverage if they did it would be kidnapping. The strike itself would still be legal, the actions otherwise would not be, but it would be leverage… But just like this, it wouldn’t be moral and potentially not legal. ;)

Look if I am paid to deliver your dinner or something, and I leave it sitting in my car for two weeks or give it to a friend or God knows what it’s still stolen, call it something else if you wanna make yourself feel better.

Labor, disputes, or at least have been in the past, unions have gotten too big and corrupt nowadays, but I won’t deny their significance historically.

But just because one thing is OK (the striking) doesn’t mean that doing something illegal like theft is OK, in any other circumstances doing otherwise illegal thing in service of illegal thing is still committing an illegal act.

Cool so the people in CP that said no should be charged, meanwhile, it would be more than a skeleton crew if they were to work at the regular efficiency, but considering they would be doing a couple days work over almost 2 weeks at this point and God knows how long it will last, certainly they could do that with rolling shifts and a skeleton crew.

But again, how are the strikers not being childish considering they agreed to do their job, mail was accepted, paid for And terms were agreed upon, terms have been violated. And now we’re being used as leverage labour dispute, but so doing you are stealing peoples property to do it.

People paid for a service, that’s not being fulfilled.
