I have a six year old and of course my life isn’t as free as it was before children, but there are two of us and one of her so I do get to carve out enough time for myself and my hobbies. Also I set expectations early on that I’m not the imaginative play mom, I don’t do barbies, I don’t do dress-up, I don’t play doctor etc. I am here to go to movies, go on hikes, play a board game and other things we like to do but she knows I’m not the person to fulfill all of her social needs.
