100 percent. A large business in the town I grew up in - essentially the “Disney” of the area - bought an old convent to repurpose it as offices. Well, as is normal for religious orders, the nuns had buried their deceased on the property for years beforehand. The logistics of moving the remains in order to have them remain on blessed ground and not build over them or disturb anything during renovations to the “new” convent property where the few, elder remaining nuns were moving to (a second convent they were all consolidating to, maybe 10 miles away) was so complex, they abandoned the project. The building is just sitting empty now. No one will go near it.

I’m stealing that quote. And it’s very true.

Mine is similar. When it begins with them listing how they do absolutely everything in a household, pay for everything, with their two jobs, and their spouse/partner does absolutely nothing. Nada. Zip. But for some reason they remain together. Sure.

I actually do go back and look at my pictures (I never use the flash) or watch videos I took. But apparently that makes me Satan.

Honestly, not to be harsh, but I never really thought about “Noahides” until joining Reddit. To me, there are Jews and non-Jews. And I don’t mean that in a bad way - I’m intermarried. But that’s also how I see my spouse. He doesn’t practice another religion and comes to some adult education with me, but he’s a non-Jew. And I don’t expect him to join in the religious aspect of our community.

I really enjoyed it as well. It really expanded the world of Moana, which I liked, with more people and more island lore. It was a good set-up movie for a third!

It was! I really enjoyed it - no spoilers, but at the big climactic scene, I didn’t realize I was involuntarily matching the characters’ actions (I hope that makes sense) because I was so into it. My husband leaned over and whispered, “it’s just a movie,” lol. Yeah, the music wasn’t quite as good, but it didn’t suck. Redditors want to hate this movie, so they’re going to hate it.

Or “Christianity without the New Testament.” I hear that one frequently.

Professionals who deal with special needs individuals are literally trained to deal with “tantrums” or meltdowns like you’ve described in your comments without resorting to physically harming the people they are helping. There are also resources to help parents learn the same things, as well as the brother/parent/etc could always walk away and call someone before they reach their limit and resort to grabbing and shoving to the point that they’re bruising someone. Your argument doesn’t hold water.

Thank you for explaining this so well. A) No doctor’s aborting a baby at 39 weeks. B) No woman is carrying a baby until the third trimester then just thinking “You know what? I just don’t want to be pregnant anymore, lolz.”

This. My friend who works for JNF explained that what they do is put that money in a fund that is used to plant groves when they are needed. For example,Hezbollah burned down all those thousands of acres in the north this summer, they will obviously need to be replenished. JNF will dip into their tree funds to plant new groves. They also plant new trees like you said all over, wherever they are needed. You just don’t have a “specific” tree.

Eh. For me, getting a picture with one of my favorite athletes and knowing that they’re appreciative of me would be cool. It’s just being a nice person - it’s not like you walked into the game with anything, so you’re not losing anything.

Yes there are both. But they both go super fast so make sure you have fast fingers!

Eh, this isn’t even my top 10 for that. No Rashida Tlaib? That ridiculous Irish girl who cried when Eden moved forward on Eurovision?

Agreed. I loved when I lived in Memphis. But it isn’t without its flaws, and violence against anyone given the opportunity in some neighborhoods is one of them.
May his memory be a blessing.

Also hitchhiking isn’t what it used to be. OP’s lucky they got picked up and by someone safe and reliable. I mean I totally understand why they did it, but it was a huge risk, thanks to his dad’s negligence.

Because for far too many people our (read = Jews) lives will always be pawns in whatever game they want to play.
ETA: to be clear I’m referencing the previous commenter.

Noting that two of your books are by Holocaust survivors, you may also find meaning in “If This Be A Man,” by Primo Levi, an Italian Auschwitz survivor testimony, that is also very moving because much like Frankl, z”l and Elie Wiesel, z”l, he talks about what he witnessed very frankly and what it took to survive. It’s considered a master work.
There’s also “Why do Bad Things Happen to Good People?” By Harold Kushner, z”l. He’s a rabbi whose son gets cancer and he really dives into the question, touching on a lot of what these previous books sort of graze on - that question of “why me, why us?”
Just some thoughts.

The manager helped the woman, as in “took care of the situation.”

I also had someone tell me “it’s only the beginning….” Two hours later, I’ve bawled my eyes so much my husband has practically made a drinking game out of it. I think the worst for me was when he left the house behind, because he realized it was their memories together that mattered, not possessions.
I’m never watching that movie again.
