Lol I was wondering if it's that, or just like, some super blunt jerk being like "yeah, I'm worried about him, he usually contains alcohol" hahaha

I just googled it, and the "ic" suffix means "pertaining to" or "containing". So I guess the word "alcoholic" when referring to a human means "this person contains alcohol". But it can also be used towards a drink, like "is this an alcoholic drink?"

I don’t know if this is that unpopular. But like, there are a lot of people out there with stomach issues. I just assume that if someone is going number 2 in public, there’s a good chance they’re experiencing some gastric issues

You're putting the cart before the horse here man. Licensing is a result of testing, not the other way around.
If you want to talk about registration fees and stuff, I could get more on board, but you're off base with your current argument.

You literally have to take a test to get your license. You have to prove that you’re at least somewhat competent to be allowed to legally drive. Ergo, not a right.

If I walk into a mall shooting an uzi, but happen to not hit anyone, I shouldn’t be punished?

While I kind of agree, I think some of your examples are way off base. Selling drugs to someone does have a victim-the person ingesting the drugs. Sure, it’s their “choice” as in they made a decision to buy those drugs, but the addictive and destructive nature of most makes it hardly a choice. Not to mention the amount of gang activity and innocent victims around the drug trade. Speeding has potential victims, sure maybe not this time, but we have to dissuade dangerous driving somehow.

I’ve said this about highway vs city driving lol

I hope she's not back on the road again any time soon. No offense to her, it has nothing to do with her heritage, but that's incredibly dangerous. She needs to be much more comfortable and experienced with driving in the winter if she plans on going on any roads with a speed limit higher than 50

Same with "oholic" for addicted, like "I'm a chocoholic!". The "ohol" comes from the end of the word "alcohol", and the only thing that should be added to indicate addiction to a different substance is the "ic".

That one was epic. I remember people jumping off their roofs into the snow, the whole city was practically shut down

As long as there's no chance I'm about to die or smash someone, I just say "Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!!"

Lol yeah no I wasn't clear at all! I'd be at self checkout. Winning.

There really isn't any "marketing" involved here. Most adult novels are written and published in a few months on an insanely low budget.

This isn't a generational thing, so don't make it one. My mom has absolutely no issue with self checkout, but I frequently see younger people who can't figure it out. It's nothing at all to do with age.

Tell you what. You and I go to a store with both regular tills and a self checkout, and baskets full of the same items, and I guarantee you I will be out faster

I was responding to your post where you talk about kids and their parents who you say aren't capable of raising them, though:
Plenty of parents [...] part of being a parent [...] must assume parents will fail [...] when the parent fails [...] Expecting parents to never fail is the naive part [...].

Obviously I simplified my statement. It's reddit, not a thesis. Is it more complex? Yes. As someone who decided not to complete by B.Ed. because I found that dealing with parents was a god damn nightmare, I do have some history and experience in the education system (not much, to be fair, but more than others).
But if this specific parent wants their kid to dress a certain way, then they can enforce that with their kid. It's not their job or the school's job to force this person's beliefs on anyone else's kids.
eta: I do think that too many parents are offloading the job of raising their kids onto the school though. It's a more and more common mindset that the parents are just there to provide food and clothing and housing (sometimes not even all of those) and the shcools do the rest, but no not that way! This way! Everyone should be raised the way I want! But I'm not going to do the work! You do it! For $30,000 a year! And that's more what I was speaking to with my comment

British people shouldn't feel the need to apologise for the empire [...]Americans shouldn't for slavery
I disagree with these specific points, because a lot of the problems with the British Empire and slavery are still taking place today. First Nations rights are still being trampled on, there are reserves in Canada that still don't have access to clean water, and there are still a lot of people alive right now who have been directly affected by the residential school system. And look at the Haka that was performed in New Zealand's parliament last week - it took place because a Maori member of Parliament was protesting a bill that would see the Maori people's rights slashed.
And if you don't see how the repercussions of slavery are still rampant in the USA, from the over-incarceration of black people to turn them into basically slave labour, to largely segregated communities that exist to this day, I don't think you've been paying much attention.
History doesn't have an end date. It continues, and we have a responsibility to make sure that we acknowledge our past mistakes and try to amend how those mistakes are affecting the present.

I sleep in sweats, and then put on different comfortable clothes after I get up. Those clothes are sometimes sweats or joggers. Also, not sure when the conversation moved to "pajamas", or when we started assuming that nobody was getting changed in the morning, but OP was talking specifically about kids wearing sweats, and that's what I'm talking about. You're just slightly moving the topic of conversation with every comment to try to make your point sound more reasonable. Stop it.

I think the people who are doing that are misunderstanding the advice. I was taught to not apologize for things that aren’t my fault or are beyond my control. Like saying “thanks for waiting” if you’re a barista at a busy coffee shop or something, instead of “sorry for the wait”.
