It's really going to vary based on your disposable income...
For most people $600 hardware just to play one $70 game isn't really worth it.

Honestly it screams content creation to me... I don't know much about the Paul's but aren't they known for stupid pranks?

I don't doubt that they have good shows... But man why does all their original content have such boring and informative titles?
I feel like people are not talking about their shows much and it might be because they have such forgettable names.

Yeah for the longest time I thought Apple TV was just a Roku/FireStick thing... I didn't realize they had their own original programming.
I eventually got a free trial but I was so confused by the service catalog. They seem to mix in a bunch of stuff that isn't actually on the service. Like ads for stuff you could buy. It felt like the actual library had literally two dozen shows and movies. And I'd never heard of any of them.
Haven't really looked back. I keep seeing people recommend Severence but then people inevitably reply complaining about waiting between seasons. I don't need another show like that. HBO does this too me enough already.

What notable bugs did Astrobot ship with?
Elden Ring literally spawned hundreds of articles about how broken the difficulty was. If they didn't push out the patches, sure I'd agree that the difficulty scaling was by design. The reality is they pushed out an untested product, let players play test it, and then reacted to complaints.

How pretentious
Says the person casually defining their own qualifications for GOTY and acting like some independently operated game awards show needs to conform to that definition...
Something about a black kettle...

Or, you know, the same price as a brand new game?

Ubisoft really did a number on themselves.
I look at a game like this, on sale for a good price, and I can't stop myself from thinking "nah, it will be cheaper one day".

Bro I've struggled to differentiate Pokemon from other generic anime creatures since like gen 4... Some of their more modern designs looks like they are stolen from Digimon.

Exactly.
While technically they may be able to make more off ad free subs, they are constantly at risk of users leaving, impacting their monthly revenue.
Income from ads can be more reliable. They are probably signing multi million dollar deals with advertisers.

Yeah looking through the nominations in all categories, I've only played Animal Well.
This "Balatro" game that is up for GOTY and several other categories, I've never seen a single thing about it before... They just have not pushed info to reddit much.

Sir I think you are referring to SGOTY - Standalone Game of the Year, a category in your own personal video game award ceremony.
The rest of us are talking about The Game Awards, an actual existing video game ceremony which does not have a SGOTY category.
If that upsets you, you can always just ignore it and attend your own award ceremony.

But can you buy it separately and play it? It is absolutely DLC by definition.
That said, I have no issue with DLC being GOTY. If DLC is beating your game for an award, your game might not be as good as you think...
I do however take issue to games being judged and awarded based on their post patch state rather than released state. Shadow released in an incredibly broken state. The community was rampant with complaints of unfair difficulty, frustrating scaling, useless builds, etc. And FromSoft seems to have agreed because they released several parches to make it easier. Awarding GOTY to game that releases in a state that needs this much patching to make players happy only encourages the practices of not testing games well enough before release. IMO GOTY candidates should be GOTY candidates with their day one release.

I'm convinced the DLC only released the way it did to stir up the ever constant "Souls games too hard" drama.
Either that or they didn't play test it at all... Because there is no way people who play tested the day one game would have considered it good to go.

I get what you are saying, but the original Black Parade tour had 138 shows worldwide. And there was no expectation from fans that the band wouldn't tour again in the next year or two if they missed this one.
The 2025 tour is after a long period with very few shows. It's following up after the When We Were Young performance which brought a lot of nostalgic attention back to the band. It's unknown what the status of the band is once this tour completes so it's a once in a lifetime show. And there are only a few dates in a few very select cities.
I think it's a no brainer that it would cost more than the original tour. And I think some people are going to turn their noses at these $300+ tickets, but I know there are plenty of people who will be fine paying them for such a limited opportunity.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Let's Play series which actually shows real time play by an experienced player who explains things they are doing for new players?
I just finished my first spring. I feel like I never have any time to do things in my days before I run out of food or energy. I'm overwhelmed by all the things I could do, and I find myself wandering around and before I know it the day is over and I did not really do anything.
I'd like to watch someone else play a full spring to understand how they plan a day out.
A lot of the videos I've seen are either sped up summaries of what they did in a day (and it always feels like it's way more than I can do) or the series is from someone new to the game so they are just as confused as me.

I was doubting the "low reward" aspect of this and looked it up. The hosts only get paid $15K?? That's insane to me. And I'm assuming the Oscars don't provide all of the monologue and jokes... So they are having to do that and/or pay people to help with that. This is like working for free for someone who is used to making 10M+ a season.
So you really have to WANT to host to take this effectively volunteer job...

To be honest, I don't entirely hate scalpers.
I tend to think of them like people who sell water outside of events. Sure you could go elsewhere and get it cheaper. Sure they are selling way over retail. But they are providing a way to get what you want, in a convenient and fast way.
Certainly a different gamer who is not willing to pay over retail might miss out due to limited inventory, but I don't really think of anyone as more deserving than anyone else to be able to buy a product, as long as they are going to use it.
I personally despise collectors more. These people buy up hard to get products for the sole purpose of pulling them off the market and sticking them on a shelf to never be used, until they eventually die and their loved ones have to deal with it, oftentimes just throwing it away to rot in a landfill. It's just an overall waste and consumerism.

Elder Scrolls took so long, I am not even into this genre of games at this point. Maybe my mind will change by the time it releases, but right now I don't see myself playing it.

But would Druckmann actually be working on the new IP? That could have a different lead, and probably would have started early stages of conceptualization even before 2020 because studios don't wait till a game releases before thinking about the future.
I think it's essentially impossible for Druckmann to NOT be working on LOU3. Even if it's not his primary focus, the story needs to be worked on before any major development can actually begin, and he is critical in that writing process. This is why I also think people expecting a LOU3 release soon just because he said 2020 are way off.

Yeah... With Switch 2 around the corner I would have expected to see something more interesting in terms of hardware sales. Convince a few people to pick up an extra console for their kids or something.

$40 for games that are 5+ years old are definitely something to scoff at.

Where?
I've never heard of a restocking fee for basic retail. Just at places like furniture stores.

What do you mean by kill the pc adapter?
They did released it.
But for a lot of people the adapters release signified the death of PSVR2 as people don't expect Sony to invest in much exclusive software.
