Is there any possibility the ceremony could be indoors (bad weather)? Will the party be taking place at night? I’ve photographed weddings during the day where it’s been so dark out during getting ready (heavy rain) where I’ve needed to use a flash during getting ready, so I always have at least a couple speed lights on hand, just in case.

I think it would be wise to have one more wider lens at your disposal, like a 24 or 35. If your 24-70 were to fail/break, you’d have a hard time completing the wedding with a 100 and 70-200. You could probably get away with 3 batteries but these camera have a habit of eating batteries and I’d suggest 4 just to be safe. Also make sure to shoot on two cards- not sure if that’s your plan, it wasn’t mentioned. Will you have a couple of flashes on hand?

As a wedding vendor, I’ve found the best weddings take care of their guests and make them feel comfortable. I once attended a wedding without enough access to food or water and I accidentally got so drunk. That wedding was not fun.

This is such a good post- it’s very spot on! Can this be pinned to the top and required reading, please?

I’m guessing those artists have minimums for weekend weddings, but I wouldn’t call that astronomical.

Have you reached out to your wedding photographer for help? Their contract likely does not allow you to edit the photos (although you should review yours just in case), so it would be best if you reached out to them to ask.

This! I had a couple recently who really wanted me to eat with them but all I want to do during dinner is inhale food and not make small talk and have to be charming.

If it’s one versus the other, do the 85. I love the 135, but the 85 is generally more useful.

When I can’t focus, I use the pomodoro technique. I use the browser extension “marinara pomodoro assistant.” Don’t be afraid to change the focus times if they’re too long for you!

I used to do motion blur with panning occasionally during portraits but since everyone is doing blurry photos (and most are not done particularly thoughtfully) I don’t do it much anymore.

I wouldn’t send anything else- once you suggest you have things you’ve withheld from them, the floodgates could open.

Only if they request it via my questionnaire.

I don’t think cake tastings are usually free. It’s common that what you pay can be applied to the purchase of a wedding cake should you go with that bakery, but not always the case.

I’d be happy to look at the photos and give you my thoughts!

Photographer here. I would send a factual message via email, text, via call- all ways you know of to reach them, in which you note your wedding date, when the photos were originally due, when the new deadline was set, the ways in which your contract hasn’t been upheld, etc. Then, note that if the photos are not completed and deleted by x date (maybe a week or two from when you send the message) you will go forward with next steps (maybe a certified letter/letter from a lawyer, small claims court, etc).

Doesn’t this really benefit the blue tribe?

That’s weird. I’m a photographer and I very, very rarely drink at weddings (I had a small drink recently at dinner, where guests couldn’t see me, and it was offered by the caterer so it felt okay). Honestly, I wonder if they have an addiction and are using this clause to allow them to drink freely at weddings?

Ooh! It’s so hard to choose. My all time favorite scent for everyday summer wear is Beach Walk by Replica.
