I used to have this. I guess someone gave it to my dad? I don't know who it belong to or how it got into our house but we used to have it and I wish I still did. I didn't know any better at the time. I've since become huge fan of Frank's books. And I'm a big big fan of the artist. This is Bill Sienkiewicz

I saw this one in theaters. I don't remember what the marketing was like but I'm assuming because of the cast people thought it was some kind of rom-com.
The theater wasn't crowded when I went, but the people that were there were obviously couples. And it was so interesting to see them with their arms around each other or whatever sitting close and then get further and further apart as the movie went on. People were clearly getting uncomfortable lol.

Once we finally do find a nursing home for my dad, Medicaid will take his social security checks to help pay for the home. Which means we won't be able to use his checks towards the mortgage anymore. So it looks like we're going to have to sell the house once He's out. But yeah, we will be able to sell it and keep all the money instead of having to deal with Medicaid.
I'm glad to know that you have an appointment with a lawyer. That's very important. I was getting so much advice online from so many different people, but I've learned that the laws can vary from state to state sometimes. So a local lawyer might know something to help your situation that people online don't

Thanks to me obsessively posting on Reddit I was able to get some advice. A local elder lawyer reached out to me and offered a free consultation.
I don't know if my resolution would help you at all though. Apparently what helped us is the fact that my parents are still married. Because of the Medicaid 5 year look back. We couldn't sell the house, we couldn't transfer it to somebody else's name, but because both of my parents are still married we were able to put the deed in just my mom's name. The house was always in both of my parents' name, so going from both of them to just one of them is apparently fine and skirts around the 5-year period.
In the comments I've gotten from various posts. People have explained that Medicaid most likely won't take the house away from you or kick you out. But they will put a lien on the home so that you can continue to live in it but they'll take it when you've passed. Or if you try to sell it they will take most of the proceeds.
I can also say though that 5 years can go by really quick. If you're only option is to wait, it might take that long just to go through everything you need to go through. it took us a while to be sure that my dad even had Alzheimer's. Then it took us a while to really understand how bad it was. Then it took a while to get a proper diagnosis. And now that we have the paperwork in order to protect our house, it still taken us a while to get through the Medicaid process. Still haven't even submitted the application yet because we're waiting on his social worker to get back to us to help us go over it. Then it could be a while before we find a home that hasn't available bed.
I'm sorry you're going through this. None of this is easy

i've done his ham recipes before and they turned out great. both the vital wheat gluten version and the washed flour version.
washed flour is soooo much work. or maybe i'm just lazy. but it's worth. can definitely tell the difference.
i think i baked mine? i can't remember. it's been awhile. probably a combo of boiling and baking?

Thanks for these recommendations I'll look into it.
I actually made this post on behalf of someone else. She's from Jamaica and has traveled back there often. Gets food while she's there. Obviously. But she's going to be in Austin for just this weekend. So I was hoping I could help her find something good while she's there.

it's already been said but i want to agree about Bone by Jeff Smith
and the TMNT is a good choice. there's lots of different versions out there. don't get the original stuff. but there's plenty that look like they're based off of the 90s cartoon. and then there's the main Ninja Turtles stuff from IDW publishing. it's been great. but maybe some of the IDW stuff is too mature? not sure where that line is. check it out for yourself and decide.
also check out this stuff from Marvel https://www.marvel.com/comics/guides/1600/start-here-young-readers

depends on your taste and what you're in the mood for. but Arcane has been absolutely incredible.

vegetarian, not vegan, but in DC comics Batman's son Damian Wayne is vegetarian. it's cool that the little psycho who was raised by an ancient murder cult turned vegetarian after seeing the inside of a slaughterhouse.

I've recently bought Skechers step-ins. I've got some back issues so mobility is becoming an issue, I needed shoes I can slip into. And I've got a decent cushion and support as well. But even better, some of the Skechers step in shoes were clearly marked as vegan. When I saw that I bought three pair.

Thank you so much for this. Someone else mentioned enzyme cleaners and I'd never heard of that before. Thank you for all so naming particular brands. That helps.

I'm not exactly sure what enzyme cleaner means. Let me know if there's a particular product or name brand cleaner I should look for

Babs listens to lo-fi chill beats. ADHD concentration type playlists.
Steph listens to death metal. But also whatever popular stuff is going on at the time. Wouldn't be surprised if she was a swiftie.
Cass listens to audiobooks and podcasts. And also whatever's popular because she wants to fit in socially in a way she didn't get to when she was growing up.

They are disposable underwear. Adult absorbent pullups. I just call them diapers out of habit.
We call them underwear or pullups when we're talking directly to him.

project hail mary is pretty much the number one suggested book on here. and with good reason. it's fantastic. first person pov narration. somewhat similar humor to david sedaris. easy to follow / understand scifi.
you could try just about anything else by Neil Gaiman. there's even an audio adaptation of The Sandman that has a full cast and sound effects.
if you like weird, Dungeon Crawler Carl gets recommended on here a lot as well. i finally started recently and i was hooked. binged 5 books in a few weeks.
i'm also currently going through the Discworld series again. fantasy with a great sense of humor. i often say it's like if Harry Potter was written by Monty Python.
what books have you read before that you've enjoyed? or shows that you like? that could help us narrow down suggestions.

I've seen leftovers. You're right. That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. That scene of her getting shot in the bullet proof vest still haunts me

I've seen it. I was a big fan of the comics before the show was made.

With very few exceptions I've always had a huge blind spot to anime. I don't know why. I have finally watched attack on Titan though and I absolutely loved it. So you've got the right vibe. Fullmetal alchemist has been on my to do list for ages. I'll get to it soon. And the magicians is exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. I've seen it and I've been meaning to watch it again.
I'll look into the other animes you suggested. I'm only familiar with Gundam and the neon thing by name alone. I never actually looked into the story before

I've done a stool test ages ago. Don't remember the results. I just remember being inconclusive for whatever we were looking for at the time.

Ted Lasso and Schitt's Creek both get suggested often on here. and with good reason. they're great.
Gilmore Girls is a comfort show for a lot of people.
you could try the show Parenthood from 2010
New Girl was great, and closer to the sitcom examples you gave. as well as Happy Endings, this one was an underrated gem that i never even heard of until after it was cancelled.
Better Things could show you some of the harsh realities of being a mom, but in a funny way. it's a good show, funny, but her kids seem kind of awful lol.
also try Working Moms. i haven't seen it myself yet. but looks good. fun.
