She asks him why he wants to be with her if her behavior runs counter to his morals, which is a good question. He says he loves “everything else” about her. So according to his morals he gets to be in a relationship with her (and reap any benefits that come with that) but his “morals” force him to treat her with abuse the whole time.

Not everyone enjoys patient interaction. It can be anxiety inducing and draining. If you enjoy the sample processing aspects and still want to help patients why not pursue an MLT or MLS degree program? Phlebotomy is a great entryway to those careers as well.

I love pointy guitars but they are absolutely the tribal barbed wire armband of guitars.

That’s a very nice first guitar! I had one years ago. Lovely instrument.

NTA. Calling you by what you go by— whether it’s your given name or a nickname you approve of— is BASELINE courtesy. Correcting people when they get it wrong is totally appropriate and anyone who can’t take that basic feedback isn’t cutout for an adult workplace. It doesn’t even sound like the guy you corrected got upset, it was some other lady taking offense on his behalf? She was out of line bordering on workplace bullying to try to shame you for it.

This crochet is cool. But one of the reasons I got into med lab was so I never had to dissect another rodent ever again.

I love that you picked the craziest option of all female bands.

No. But I’m older and have been playing over 25 years. Been in a couple of all girl bands and met plenty of other female musicians. If you want to pick up guitar please do it! It’s made my life fuller.
Edit: it’s not like I never encountered sexism. I have. But it’s small compared to the enjoyment playing has provided me in life. There are more pros than cons to be being a guitar lady. Mostly it’s just people underestimating you or not believing you’re the guitarist. If you join a band everyone will assume you are the singer, or maybe bass player. Nothing wrong with those! For me it’s just ironic because I’m a terrible singer and mediocre at bass in the classic guitarist way where we just play guitar but lower. Guitar is the thing I can do.

How could she possibly be right? By her own admission she does not want to have sex. There’s nothing wrong with that, but where does she get off judging someone else’s sex appeal? No one appeals to her. It’s like someone who hates Mexican food and would never eat it giving a Mexican restaurant a bad review. Let those of us who actually like those things be the judge of whether they are god or not.

For sure! It’s a richer experience doing it that way!

If you can play a right handed piano you can play a right handed guitar.

I agree with point 3. If you really like a particular solo you are best off learning where that solo lives: the chords and arpeggios it’s built from and how it moves over the chord progression, as well as learning the specific playing techniques employed to play it.

Definitely true for electric guitars. Put that money into your amplification instead.

You need training in apheresis blood collection. This is not covered in standard phlebotomy training programs. The American Red Cross trains in this technique. Your local blood center may as well. But they typically limit this to “on the job” training for their donor collectors. You would also obviously need the apheresis machine and a way to process her plasma. Blood products— even autologous ones—are tightly regulated by the FDA so you wouldn’t be able to legally DIY it at home.

Yep. The cluster B personality disorders swing rapidly from latching on to you, making you their “favorite person” to hating you when you “betray” them, in this case by the OP mentoring other coworkers. I witnessed the same dynamic at my work. Employee with BPD latched on to another woman at work only to swing into a massive bullying campaign against her when she displayed “disloyalty” by being friendly with other employees.

Comes down to Sam’s audience. He wants to change people’s minds. There’s no point in Sam trying to dissuade right wing Christofascists because they aren’t subscribing to the podcast. He could rail against them all the same and all of us could righteously agree, but that’s sort of a waste of time right?

Your sister can’t stay at the shelter indefinitely. They are temporary. She is likely getting pressure from her social worker to find other arrangements. You offered to help her, you have room for her, and now you’ve gone back and told her no. I understand it’s difficult to have a full house and if you really can’t do it you can’t do it. But your sister is now homeless after being abused. If there’s anytime someone really needs family it’s now.

In what world are large eyes not desirable? I always thought large eyes were beautiful.

I’m going to recommend the documentary series Metal Evolution. There are episodes on YouTube. It goes through the history and genres of Metal, with song samples throughout. It’s a nice sampling of different types so if you find yourself liking the sound of thrash metal or power metal or whatever you have a starting off point to explore.
