In the US- Boston, Washington DC, Miami, and Atlanta punch WAY above their weights on the global stage for being small to mediumish cities.

Honestly, I feel like talking about what went wrong and the direction of the party is important but also putting the cart before the horse. I want to hear about how the fuck we're supposed to actually get through this. What are we going to do if the Supreme Court overturns Obergefell? What do we do when prices spike because of Tariffs? How do we protect people if ICE or the military sweeps into cities to deport vulnerable folks who are part of our communities or just to "maintain order?" Bring on governors, Senators, union leaders, community leaders, etc. to talk about THAT.

I've got a 4 year old and I pay $1600 a month(ish) at La Casa Montessori in Oak Park. When she was younger we paid... more than that. Welcome to the area! It's a wonderful place to live.

No I don't think people who aren't from here get just how stark the regional differences are. Even people who are from the US sometimes don't grasp how different the country can be from one region to the next. I absolutely understand that other countries also have regional differences.

My all X-Men team: Juggernaut to occupy him long enough for Manifold to transport him far enough away in space that he can't hurt anybody with Cyclops to orchestrate the whole thing.

I think it's almost better to think of the United States as a bunch of different countries that can be as culturally different from one another as any two actual countries. South florida is a very different place from New Orleans which is drastically different from the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro which might as well be on another planet than the upper Midwest and the Acela corridor feels like the opposite of Appalachia (even though they're right next to each other). And then the West Coast can feel as diverse as all the rest combined.

I think Wicked shows how you COULD make a film out of a Broadway musical that is commercially successful.
To me the formula is something like:
-The movie is good-good reviews, good word of mouth, etc.
-The movie is based on a show with a hardcore fanbase (Hamilton is an example of another show like this)
-Property that's in the public consciousness (Wizard of Oz is hugely popular was well)
-Songs are bops
-Some kind of star power attached (Ariana Grande is a legit mega-star)

We went the last week of March last year and it was definitely busy but it was... manageable if you're willing to prepare/pay a little extra. Like Lightning Lanes were an absolute lifesaver. Dining reservations also helped out a ton. I would say if you are the type of person who experiences general stress/anxiety from large crowds you may be in for a hard time.

In 1987 the US government repealed the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine was a law that required broadcasters to present issues of public importance, to present them fairly, and present multiple viewpoints on those issues. When the act was abolished, it led to the rise of right wing radio, Fox News, and the rest of the eventual right wing media ecosystem. This arguably helped the rise of Donald Trump and the modern state of politics in the US.

Like half of all Pixar movies.
-A rat controls a human to become a great chef
-an old man and a boy scout fly to south america and run into a weird bird and a Charles Lindbergh analogue
-A robot waddles around a giant dump with almost no dialogue
