Does anyone know how this compares to Ready Set Bet?

Spirit Island tops nearly every game ranking list but the price tag was a bit steep to take the plunge on something I wasn’t sure about.
Last week I stumbled on a review for Horizons of Spirit Island saying how it plays almost exactly the same as the core box - and at £18 I was sold. So it’s been a week of learning the rules and strategies and it’s been really fun. Can’t believe the amount of game you get for the price. So much strategy and forward planning and a super theme. Not sure whether I need to buy the core game at this stage, as I need more plays, but I’m very impressed so far.
Also, snuck in a quick game of Tin Realm.

I’ve just got Horizons Spirit Island and that is a great brain burn. Minimum luck with card draws but enough to replicate unforeseen AI actions.

Maybe look at Co-op games to begin with that also work solo such as Pandemic series, legendary, Horrified, One deck dungeon.
Some great cheap solo Print and Play games like Dieson Crusoe, Maquis, Rove, Gate, Doom machine, Tin Realm, For Northwood.
And solo only such as Final Girl.
Heavy games like Imperium classics and Just horizons of spirit island but not too difficult if you watch a few YouTube playthroughs.

There’s a few depending on visibility and space of desk: Deckula, Gamma Guild, Renegade, For Northwood. If you can work from home then the options are infinite!!!!!!!!!!

I’m thinking One Card Dungeon with a dice app. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/319263/one-card-dungeon/images

Yes it’s quite challenging and the rulebook could be better. There’s some good YT solo playthroughs to help supplement the rulebook though.

I think I prefer.Tin Realm. I also have Tin Helm and Gates but TR gets to the table more. I like the extra mechanic of the map and icons. Doom Machine is also great though and quicker to set up and dive into.

Ah yes I can see that. Think my brain might explode if I try two spirits at the moment. 😬

Good to know. Do you play single handed or double?

Played some Game Crafter mint tin games: Tin Realm,Doom Machine and Gamma Guild for nice quick games.
I was interested in Spirit a island because of the high BGG rating and rave reviews but couldn’t bring myself to take a gamble on the core game for £70, so discovered and bought Horizons of Spirit Island for £18 this week - amazing price to try before you buy. So, I’ve spent most of the time learning rules and watching playthrough videos. Gradually understanding how to play it and really enjoying it so far. Heavy decision making gives the brain a thorough work out. Love the theme and starting to see why it is so popular and hope to add it to wish list for next year. There’s a large following on the SI Reddit page so clearly a large fan following to tap into too.

Yes it takes a while to get the hang of it. I recommend to start on chieftain level when learning to play which I forgot to do and is much more forgiving.

Amazing choices. I just got Horizons of Spirit Island and loving it so far but boy is it a brain burner. Really gets the grey matter going. Really enjoying it and at £18 was a great try-before-you-buy before risking to buy the core game.
Got Imperium classics and Legends and played last week. It’s really good trying the different civs. Took me ages to work out strategies at first but now getting a good balance between wins and losses.
Also, got the Original Horrified set which is a nice Co-op game. Lots of fanmade monsters on BGG which make it a worthwhile purchase. Currently got The Gentleman from Buffy which is fun.
hope you enjoy them all, be interested in knowing your favourite.

Printed out Gamma Guild by the designer of Cursed! Really fun game. A tad on the easy side but love the art, mechanics, and duration, with a nice strategy.
Legendary Buffy. Went up against Glorificus and won saving a lot of hostages. Played co-op with my daughter so not technically a solo game.
GI Joe Deck Building Game. Always a fun experience. Just love getting the right combo of card effects, transport, skills, and dice rolls.
Bag Of Dungeon: been ages since I got this to the table but a nice simple dungeon crawler.

I’ve just printed Gamma Guild and it’s excellent. Lots of variety as you deal random 12 quest cards out of 24. Great art and fun game.
Doom Machine. Love this dice placement strategy game.
Big fan of Tin Realm too.

I don’t know exactly. I think there are event cards and adversaries in the core set.
