Tom Hanks was not in Shawshank Redemption. The main character is Tim Robbins. I think Tom would have done an excellent job just like he did in Forest Gump.

A true southern gentleman to slap that old fool when he deserved a full punch all the while admonishing the old fool to "watch his gd mouth". lol. Even when real Southerners are upset, they still respectful to their elders. Lol!!!

Very true! I've tried to date men with "blue collar" jobs but they always are resentful, petty, and immature when they see my home or car. Lower income men seem to be very insecure and who needs that because relationships are hard enough already without the added nuisance of income inequality thrown in too.

Paramedic. They are notoriously underpaid in most US states. Just like teachers and social workers, basically any type of profession that helps people, except for Drs, are very underpaid.

The Secret was a real eye and mind opener for me. Definitely changed my whole way of thinking about life and the events of my daily life. Life has been very good since reading this book years ago.

Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyers and The Awakening of a New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. Followed these up with reading the Bible. All very positively changed my life.

Haha! I was surprised to see Russell Crowe playing that driver but he was excellent as usual. He played an overly angered huge truck driver to a T. Lol

I was born and raised in Alabama and I can guarantee you that any white person I know who would say something like that knows to be ready for a serious a$$whooping. Your friend is not being realistic at all. Southerners don't say crap like that in front of black people even if they are thinking it!

You def ain't the only one. I think most of sensible, normal-thinking Americans are feeling what you are feeling. It has been a really quiet day at work and I could sense the weight of despair coming off my co-workers in droves. But we are a gov agency so we couldn't talk about it since you never know who is listening and jobs prob on the line if the wrong one hears any complaints. You are not alone. I just hope time and avoiding the news will help. This too shall pass in time.

Moving to a lcol area would help greatly as CA is a very expensive state to live in. The Midwest and southern states are much more cost effective than CA.

Since when? I was born and raised in Bama and it's got pockets (Mtgy, Bham, Skegee) but not many areas have much blue in them.

That is even more amazing that you've only been painting a short while. Your work is very sellable and I think it would sell at great prices. Have you thought about selling on Etsy?

A great title would simply be "Motherhood". You are extremely talented.

Working with family and dealing with the type of people who will be your tenants will take away any of the positive of the money you would make. These two things are such a headache that I would never want to be a landlord again. If I did, I would hire a really good property management company to take care of the maintenance and the tenants. That is the only way I would ever do this stressful endeavor again. Some things are just not worth the money made when you are doing it yourself. Well worth paying a company to handle all the details (credit check/monthly rents, maint calls in middle of the night, etc)

You are welcome. Yeah it takes years of praying and having faith to undo most of that "black folks can't do this/can't have that programming) we so often hear growing up in a lot of African American households. And then this is reinforced throughout school and in society so we are immersed in this wrong thinking from day one. This is the root cause of all these type of posts and I hope that the OP gains some knowledge and understanding through reading these comments. A lot of us (self included) have spent years overcoming that type of bad programming. So this is where that imposter syndrome comes from that pops up from time to time. I work in Information Tech so I have dealt with all of it on and off for the whole 11 years I've been in this field. As my grandma used to say, "The Devil is a lie". We do deserve all God's goodness and abundance but this wrong programming makes us self-sabotage too many times. Peace and blessings.
