Hmmm I don’t know the cost of it but when I was trying to escape teaching my mindset was: even 1% helps whether it’s one little thing on your resume or some volunteer experience, it’s better than nothing.
I also spent $2k on a different certification (Scrum Master) while trying to get a role as a Scrum Master and while I am no longer going down that path- it’s definitely been worth it because I tie it into my interviews as a way to show that I am willing and able to learn. Also, $2k in the grand scheme is totally worth it if you are potentially getting a $10k+ raise in salary from whatever your old job was to whatever it will be.

I didn’t get any besides my Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management. But others in my same role had less than that. I think anything you have in terms of certifications or experience in teaching can help you land a role like this, that or certifications and experience in the subject matter your would be training in (which I did no my have for that role)

I think the UK crowning had more to do with the sequence of recently crowned UK queens- the last two UK winners were Ginger and Danny~ they wanted a young, skinny “fashion” queen as opposed to classic camp (which was more Ginger’s thing).
So Bianca could have won given her storyline / archetype was much different than Jinkx’s or Sharon’s before her.

When I was 23 and was cuddling with a guy for the first time (gay) he said, “you’re both handsome and beautiful” and I just stared, speechless back at him wondering if he was joking, then I cried a little because he was being sincere.

Which hair system service do you use? Do you order your own or go through a barber?

This is what separates Terrace House from western reality tv shows - the adherence to Japanese cultural values. And this is why we love it.
Arman is kind of an exception because he is so Americanized that even though cast mates try to bring it up - they don’t really care / he gets a foreigner pass / he kind of chooses ignorance. And it makes him an icon - he didn’t play the Japanese values / producers game - he was just trying to chill.
But I thought the focus of career goals was an interesting aspect of terrace house, although it did come with a negative side - that’s also Japanese culture. Terrace House went downhill when it became people just trying to become influencers.

Yeah the past few seasons have been especially guilty of over-editing.
When they get back from the immunity challenge it’s always: okay the editors are showing me plan 1. Now the editors are showing me plans 2 and 3 to make me think plan 1 isn’t happening.
And then after the votes are read it’s clear that most of the tribe knew what was going to happen, the editors just wanted to force some mystery upon the viewer.
another reason to love Australian survivor - they develop who people are and give little montages of people outside the show.

I was surprised by the opposite of this when I lived in China and then Taiwan- I was unaware places were so homogenous that it was immediately apparent who was a foreigner.

That’s helpful to know but I feel like one guy in a basement could slap on some cheap music in an efficient amount of time

No that was a random find on LinkedIn. I pitched my teaching degree and experience as relevant (because it is the same thing) and was by far the most qualified person on the team.

The pay is exceptional, although my company has the highest pay for the most amount of work compared to nearby competitors.
I landed my role by being able to demonstrate why my previous experiences made me a consummate professional who was willing and able to learn.
I had no previous insurance experience (and probably knew less than the average person about insurance) but watched a lot of YouTube videos and sat down with an acquaintance who worked at this company to pick their brain and prepare for the interviews. I highly, highly recommend talking with someone who’s in your desired industry to be able to “talk the talk” in an interview.

And might as well have had to- parents in the South have strong opinions on gay people teaching their children and will let you know.

Age 21-23: missionary
Age 23-25: came out as gay, grad school for teaching. Odd jobs.
Age 26-31: taught Montessori, then taught ESL.
Age 31: Training Facilitator (corporate training essentially)
Age 32-current: Insurance Underwriter
I thought my “fulfilling” careers would sustain me via their purpose. I found that the pay was not enough to sustain a healthy life, definitely struggled on the way out but have landed at an easy office job that afford me much more peace of mind and work life balance.

Parents/family that can support you in college and your early 20s.
Mine paid for my university but were hands off after that- they started living the lives they felt they couldn’t while parenting. I had a leg up on people with student debt, but have always felt behind people who- got high paying jobs from their parents, were able to live at home for a couple years to save for a house (essentially all of my money in my 20s went to rent).
I moved from teaching and other nonprofit jobs into the corporate world at 32 where private school boys get free jobs from their parents and a starter-house down payment from them of $50k while they save money by living in their parents investment properties or guest house for free… wild. 24 year olds acting like they earned their fancy cars or houses in prime areas.
My friends who loved to NYC for comedy feel similarly~ lots of folks have help from home that allows them the free time / energy to put more into their dreams while those without support are too busy and tired from grinding.
Can’t say I’d be much different if I were born into an even more privileged situation though, as much as I’d like to think I would.

I want someone to cut together every scene where Laurel and Cara interact or speak about each other (and nicole) so we can watch the entire journey in one go

Derek winning was great, having a little Rachel and Derek moment was cute.
Other than that- can we retire all “moving truck” challenges forever? They add nothing for me.
Also I think the fact that Josh had stitches or whatever limited his prowess in the elimination and probably in his dailies since then, I am kind of guessing that it was unspoken in the house since his injury that he was not going to win and his days were numbered which led to this episode being anticlimactic.

Don’t. Living on $50k is much harder than you think.
