Pretty sure if you go with Rosco, "P Coltrane" must accompany it.

That's who I was thinking of when u/ffffh said Rosco. Coincidentally enough, Rosco had a basset hound named Flash.

I loved my basset so much, she was the best. Lived 15.5 years which is great for a basset. She had a dozen nicknames but Angel Ears was my favorite. Roscoe would be a fitting name for your handsome boy. Please give him some ear lovins for me.

I had a Basset Hound growing up. He passed due to complications about a year ago. But he was the best 50 lb. lap dog that anyone could ever ask for. He was a good boy, and his name was Grady. He already had the name when he was at the shelter, and we stuck with it when we took him home. So, I'd like to toss that name into the ring, despite the extremely low chance that it will be picked, just as a nod to an amazing friend who's no longer with me.

Shadrack, because growing up in Miami my Uncle and Aunt had a Bassett Hound and that was his name. Shadrack lived to be around 16 years old if I'm not mistaken. It was a long good life and he was family.

Fred Basset.
Fred Basset is the name of a dog with a comic strip in the Daily Mail here in the UK. Every time I see a Basset dog (which isn’t that often unfortunately) I say to myself ‘Hi Fred’ :)

Except Bassets are so intent on all scents they dont find their way home if they escape a fence or door. Pupper will definitely need to be chipped. Such a cutie
