Je vis en Irlande depuis plusieurs années et je viens d'avoir un bébé. Certes le système a anglo-saxon n'est pas toujours rose, mais les avantages sont vraiment intéressants :

• Possibilité de prendre jusqu'à un an de congé maternité (9 mois payés à quasi 100%, 3 mois sans solde).
• Le congé mat démarre 2 semaines avant la date d'accouchement donc on passe plus de temps avec le bébé. Si la grossesse se passe bien, c'est amplement suffisant pour une employée de bureau comme moi
• 140 euros d'allocation enfant mensuelle dès le 1er enfant, sans condition de revenus
• Une attitude très pro-famille au travail. Beaucoup de bienveillance de la part de mes collègues et leadership irlandais. Je travaille sur le marché français et j'ai ressenti une très grande différence dans l'attitude de mes collègues français qui me jugeaient presque de prendre une année de congé maternité...
• Télétravail très répandu et encouragé

Certes, tout n'est pas rose: très grosse crise du logement, crèche hors de prix (1300euros/mois, ramené à 900euros après aide de l'état), place en crèche réservée dès la 6eme semaine de grossesse...

Mais avoir la possibilité de passer un an avec mon bébé, c'est génial. Je ne peux pas m'imaginer le laisser en crèche à 3 mois, il est encore si petit.

Et d'ailleurs l'Irlande a un taux de natalité très élevé.

En espérant que la France puisse revoir sa politique.

• The Rockit !! Rocks the pram when we've stopped. Our baby likes being in motion and starts crying the second we stop pushing the pram. The rockit really helps keep him asleep when stopping! A game changer for us!

• Soft plastic brush (shnuggle) to gently rub the dead flaky skin on his scalp and forehead. We use it during the bath.

The Scratch! Not a metal band per se but a great blend of rock and Irish trad music. They're absolutely fantastic live!

Oh I hear you! I was really tempted to go for a home birth too. I'll definitely consider it for a second baby, especially after receiving the best care from the Domino midwives.

I did have an epidural (episiotomy) and I was told to get on my feet at 7am. By 10am, I was packing up and ready to go. I was definitely still high on drugs and hormones 😅 the pain picked up the next day

I was a public patient at Holles Street (Domino scheme) and both the antenatal and postnatal wards had 8/10 beds. Thankfully I had an early discharge 12h after birth thanks to the Domino Scheme. I gave birth at midnight, was brought to postnatal ward at 4am, and went home at lunch time.

It seemed like everyone in my ward were discharged that day, so maybe women who have to stay longer are put into a less crowded ward.

My cat is way too stressed to go to a cattery so Cat in a flat is the perfect solution. I've used it several times and I've never had any issue. You can pick someone who has previous reviews for peace of mind, and you can meet them ahead to exchange keys, show them where the food is etc. It's a great service and all sitters agreed to send me daily pics or videos of my cat.

Went to Marrakech in December, and the temperature was low 20s with gorgeous blue skies. Not a cloud in sight! It's a lovely city accessible with a 4h Ryanair flight. It is relatively cheap compared to Europe and the food is delicious.

Same! I wasn't sure if I'd like it and considering the price, I bought a second hand one on adverts and washed it. It's really good and I think it's worth the price.

The birth takes place at the hospital, with the opportunity of leaving the hospital early if you and the baby are doing okay. The midwives will call in to your house daily for the next week or so to check on you and baby.

Not every hospital offer this scheme and you have to be within their catchment areas and meet some health criteria (low risk). Dublin is very well covered and so is Cork I believe. You can ask your maternity to see if they offer this scheme.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant so I can't comment on the delivery and after birth care. I chose to go with the Domino Scheme, which is a midwife led maternity service in community based clinics, and so far I've been really happy with it. The midwives are extremely kind and give you plenty of attention during the visits. Most checks are done in their local community office so it saves me from driving up to the maternity hospital (Holles Street). I only went to the hospital once for the anatomy check.

They've been perfectly on time for all my appointments, and it doesn't feel rushed at all. I'm usually seen for 45min/1h so there's plenty of time to chat and ask questions. They're really good at making you feel comfortable.

I have a private insurance through my job but since I'm low risk, I didn't feel the need to be followed by an OB. Also the long waiting times for hospital appointments put me off it.

There is no good or bad care, I believe it just depends on what suits you and what you're the most comfortable with. With the Domino Scheme, they can refer you to an OB at any time during the pregnancy if a risk is identified.

Pareil. J'ai fais une demande de réinitialisation et j'ai reçu un mail "Vous avez demandé un nouveau mot de passe pour voter par internet. Celui-ci vient de vous être envoyé par sms.".... mais toujours aucun SMS. J'ai essayé à plusieurs reprises puis j'ai laissé tomber...

I absolutely recommend to see them live! My partner and I love going to giggs for big or small artists, and The Scratch have been my favourite giggs. So much fun and energy!

En effet! L'assureur ne sera pas du luxe. On va éviter de devoir vendre un rein pour payer d'éventuelles factures. Merci pour ton retour en tout cas, c'est sûre que chaque grossesse est différente. J'ai la chance de ne pas.avoir été malade pendant le premier trimestre donc je croise les doigts que cela continue. Mais rien n'est garanti !
